C. Michael Jones, MD, FACP
A gentle, soft spoken man whose capacity for caring knows no equal is how Dr. Jones is frequently characterized. Patients, staff and colleagues all highly regard Dr. Jones for his dedication and devotion both to his patients and to his profession. A former professor and clinician at some of our nation’s most esteemed cancer research and teaching facilities, Dr. Jones brings the highest possible standards to benefit his patients. Deeply committed to research, he is always learning and constantly seeking better ways to tailor treatments for each patient. He passionately advocates hope for his patients and always lets them know something can and will be done for them.
Dr. Jones graduated from Birmingham Southern College and then earned his Medical Degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. For his Internship and Residency, he chose to train at the Department of Medicine, University of Alabama Hospitals and Clinics, Birmingham, Alabama. For his Fellowship in Medicine-Hematology, he trained at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD, where he was a National Research Service Award Recipient. He also completed his Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Jones gained further experience as a Medical Officer at the Laboratory of Immunodiagnosis, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Jones’s career in academic medicine includes appointments as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Department of Hematology, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. Concurrently, he served as Associate Director, Hematology/Oncology Division, University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Even while helping direct one of the nation’s most esteemed cancer treatment programs, Dr. Jones continued learning. From1993 – 1995, he augmented his knowledge with Biochemistry and Molecular Biology courses at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Since 1995, Dr. Jones has provided medical students with inspiration and information as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Tennessee, Memphis in addition to his private medical practice.
As a result of his long and distinguished affiliation with MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas, Dr. Jones is recognized as an Anderson Associate. This distinction enables patients of the Jones Clinic to receive advanced treatments that otherwise would not be available.

Dr. Jones is an avid reader who constantly seeks the latest new cancer treatment and advances in patient care and comfort. Much of his spare time is spent researching these topics. He is also an avid scuba diver and photographer. You will see many of his underwater photographs throughout the office and on this website.
